Notifications and Critical Ride Changes
A critical change to a ride triggers a notification to the assigned provider, requiring them to resubmit the ETA within the submission window or the ride returns to the community.
When notifications are toggled on, dispatchers receive alerts for any critical changes made to an assigned ride. Critical changes require the transportation provider to resubmit the Ride ETA, even if the ride was originally assigned to them. Learn more about how to update your dispatcher notifications here.
What Happens After a Critical Change?
Once a critical change occurs:
- A new submission window opens.
- The originally assigned transportation company receives a notification prompting them to submit an updated ETA.
- They have five minutes to provide the new ETA.
- If they fail to act within that window, the ride returns to the community.
What Is a Critical Change?
A change is considered critical when one of the following ride attributes is modified:
Triggers a Required ETA Resubmission
- Pickup or drop‑off time
- Pickup or drop‑off location
When these attributes change:
- The transportation provider receives a notification.
- They must return to the portal and submit an updated ETA.
- If they do nothing, the ride automatically returns to the community for reassignment.
Requires Cancellation and Rebooking
- Vehicle type
- Service date
These changes are significant enough that the existing ride cannot be updated and must instead be canceled and rebooked.
Resubmitting an ETA
When a new submission window opens after a critical change:
- A notification is triggered to dispatchers.
- Follow the link in the notification to access the affected ride, or return to your assigned rides within the new submission window.
- Rides that are not resubmitted in time will return to the community for all available transportation companies to bid on.
