How to Download and Transfer Files to Roundtrip Through SFTP

Learn how to download and transfer files securely to Roundtrip through SFTP (secure file transfer protocol).

What is SFTP?

Roundtrip uses SFTP (secure file transfer protocol) for organizations to securely upload member eligibility files and for organizations to download reporting files from Roundtrip. SFTP is the industry standard for securely transferring sensitive data between organizations, offering encryption and user access control to ensure a compliant, protected channel. In addition, it enhances reliability by ensuring data integrity, minimizing the risk of disruptions or errors caused by corrupted or incomplete files. How Can My Organization Utilize SFTP?

SFTP can be used to securely transfer files to or from Roundtrip. There are a couple of ways your organization can utilize SFTP integrations:

Eligibility Files

Eligibility files are how organization communicate to Roundtrip their population of riders or members that are eligible for a transportation benefit. These are commonly used by health plans or organizations that offer an exclusive transportation benefit to a specific group of riders.

Reporting via Raw Data Transfer

If your organization uses a centralized business intelligence tool for data analysis or visualization (such as Power BI), you may benefit from reporting via SFTP. Roundtrip can provide data extracts which can be securely downloaded via SFTP and ingested by your organization’s preferred business intelligence tool for customized analyses.

Getting Started

Once your organization has a SFTP connection configured with Roundtrip, you can begin downloading and/or transferring files. You will need to download a SFTP software to begin (such as FileZilla or WinSCP). Please note, your organization may have specific requirements about which SFTP software can be used - we recommend confirming with your organization’s IT Team for any policies regarding specific software requirements.

Accessing the SFTP Server

Once downloaded, open the SFTP application which should look similar to the image below depending on the SFTP software you are using:

Enter the following information to login to the server:

Host
sftp.live.rtrip.io
Username
This will be sent to you by a Roundtrip representative
Password
This will be sent to you by a Roundtrip representative
Port
22

Follow the prompts within your SFTP software to login. Once you’ve successfully logged into the server, you can begin downloading and/or transferring files to Roundtrip.

How to Download Files from Roundtrip

Once you’ve logged into the SFTP server, you can begin downloading reports from Roundtrip (if enabled for your organization). To do so, first navigate to the “reports” folder and double click on it to open.

Once opened, locate the report that you would like to download. To download the report, simply click on the appropriate file in the right pane and drag it to your preferred file destination in the left pane.

How to Transfer Files to Roundtrip

Once you’ve logged into the SFTP server, you can begin transferring data to Roundtrip from your device (if enabled for your organization). In order to transfer a file from your device onto Roundtrip’s SFTP server, navigate to where the file is stored on your local device in the left pane.

Once you have found the file you would like to transfer, click and drag it into the right pane into the appropriate folder under roundtrip-sftp.
